THE five elements living art tour

The five elements of fire, earth, metal, water and wood describe the way we interact with nature. The traditional way of looking at the visual arts, suggests that there are five basic elements of any art work – line, shape, colour, texture and space. Hardly anything that belongs to the domain of the visual can be achieved without at least one of these elements.

On this tour we meet the artisans responsible for pulling all these elements together in the creation of award-winning fine designer furniture by Jah Roc, plus unique handmade wrought iron, art and decorator pieces forged in fire by Skender Iron.

You will indulge in the fine art of food and wine matching at the Vasse Felix Restaurant that offers a beautiful setting to enjoy the regional flavours, textures and creative cuisine in compliment with a glass or two from their Icon Wine Collection.

To complete the day and before we drop you home, we pay a visit to Jah Roc Gallery that is home to an impressive selection of Jah Roc Fine Furniture pieces and a diverse exhibition of Fine Art, Paintings, Glass, Sculpture, Ceramic, and Jewellery housed in a contemporary, modern setting located in Margaret River.

WITH A MINIMUM OF TWO AND A MAXIMUM OF SIX PEOPLE YOU WILL BE TRAVELLING IN A LUXURY SEVEN-SEATER VEHICLE.

suggested itinerary

The day commences with a visit to the regions foremost metalsmithing workshop and the opportunity to meet master tradesman Graham Skender and learn of his inspiration and use of traditional forging techniques, in the crafting of architectural gates, furnishings, artworks and fire accessories.

From there we head across to Margaret River’s founding winery for a privately hosted wine tasting followed by a three-course wine paired lunch in the beautiful surrounds of the Vasse Felix Estate. The menu is modern Australian and draws inspiration from international preparation techniques.

At the Jah Roc Furniture workshop, you will have the unique opportunity to meet with owners and makers Gary Bennett and David Paris, who are the master craftsman behind the award winning fine designer furniture. Hand crafted individually using Western Australian hardwoods such as Jarrah, Marri, Sheoak and Blackbutt, their bespoke furniture has been acquired by collectors all over the globe.

The final stop of the day and before we drop you home will be a visit to the Jah Roc Gallery situated in Margaret River town. This world class Contemporary Art Gallery exhibits Fine Artworks, Paintings, Art Glass, Sculpture, Ceramic, Jewellery and Fine Wood that sit alongside their own designer Jah Roc Fine Furniture, allowing the viewer to imagine how the whole setting could look in their own home or office.
