THE ARTISAN WINES TOUR

'meet the makers, share the passion’

on this tour we actively seek out genuine artisan wine producers and embrace the magic and the story that lives within each glass!

Artisan winemaking is an approach based on maximum human intervention in the vineyard and minimum chemical intervention in the winery to ensure pure fruit flavours that speak of the place from whence they came. Here’s an opportunity to get into this space for an insight into the ‘why and how’ small batch, artisan wines are made!

In recent years consumers have been thinking more deeply about what goes into what they consume, and producers have pondered the quality and character of their finished products. The search for superficial perfection has been replaced by the quest for authenticity, individuality and for an expression of place. Nowhere is this quest being more passionately pursued than in Australia.

WITH A MINIMUM OF TWO AND A MAXIMUM OF Six PEOPLE YOU WILL BE TRAVELLING IN A LUXURY SEVEN-SEATER VEHICLe.

suggested itinerary

  • We start the day with a visit to a genuine artisan wine producer, growing and making small quantities of single variety, single vineyard and single region wines. The wine tasting experience here is truly unique with its combination of a farm style Cellar Door and unique ‘one of a kind’ Wine Sensory Garden, with it's inspiration taken from Kendall Jackson Wines in the Napa Valley. For each wine, there is a descriptor garden bed planted out with a selection of fruit trees, herbs and vegetables used to describe the aromas and flavours found in that particular varietal wine. The adjacent central affinity bed is planted out with fruit bearing plants, herbs and vegetables which have flavours and textures that match or have an affinity for that same wine.
  • From there we head across to the award winning 'Rustico' tapas restaurant located at Hay Shed Hill winery, to enjoy a selection of their favourite tapas dishes accompanied with a glass of Sangria or dry wine and churros to finish.
  • We then head south to meet with one of the regions outstanding producers of alternative, lo-fi gear, single vineyard and low intervention handmade wines. Here you will get the chance to tour a micro winery and taste some of their wines in the company of the wine maker.

  • To round off the day and before we drop you home we travel to meet with an up and coming ultra traditional wine producer that focuses on the classical Margaret River varieties, Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay. This is an opportunity to learn first hand from an artisan wine producer how important the saying 'less is more' is being applied to old world manner wine making.
